This privacy statement is provided in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“the Privacy Act”) and sets out the way in which MKF Lawyers collect, store, use, manage and protect your personal information. By accessing information provided by us (including via our website), providing us with your personal information and enquiring and using our services, you agree to our privacy policy.

MKF Lawyers collect personal information to conduct our business, provide services, market our services and to meet our legal obligations.

Storage of Personal Information


We hold your personal information both in electronic and hard copy form.  All electronic material is secured using password protected electronic devices. All hard copy information is kept securely. Hard copy personal information may be copied and scanned.  If hard copy personal information is scanned, it is saved and held electronically.  


MKF Lawyers may store, process or back-up your personal information on servers located in Australia or overseas, via the Cloud, and through third party service providers.


MKF Lawyers will keep information and documents relating to a legal matter for 7 years after the completion of that legal matter in compliance with the South Australian Legal Practitioner Conduct Rules and in a manner as required by law.
Where we no longer require your personal information for a permitted purpose under the National Privacy Principles, we take reasonable steps to destroy it.


Personal Identification


We do not use personal identifiers that have been assigned to you by another agency or organisation, such as your Medicare number or Tax File Number, as a means of identifying you as an individual. If you provide this information to us for a particular purpose, it will not be used for any other purpose but for that for which it was provided.


Contacting us anonymously or using a pseudonym


You can contact us anonymously or by using a pseudonym. If you choose to withhold personal information to protect your identity, we may be limited in what information and services we can provide, and we may not be able to investigate any complaints or incidents you report.


Access to Personal Information


You may contact us in writing or by telephone at any time to request access to the personal information we hold about you.  If we are not reasonably able to verify your identity, we reserve the right not to provide you with access to the personal information requested.  We will respond to your request for access to your personal information as soon as reasonably practicable.  


So that the personal information we hold about you is accurate, we suggest that you contact us to update that information from time to time.

From time to time we may make changes to our Privacy Policy. Changes come into effect from the time when they are brought to your attention, or when you next access our website, whichever is earlier.
